What to Expect
Take a bus tour from Antalya to Istanbul to see the highlights of Turkey. Admire the green-tiled Mausoleum of Mevlana, the spectacular natural formations in Cappadocia, the frescoes at the Goreme Open Air Museum, and the Ataturk Museum in Ankara.
Day 1: Arrival in Antalya (Dinner)
You’ll be greeted at the Antalya airport or bus station and transferred to the hotel that has been reserved for your stay. After checking in, the rest of the day is yours to enjoy and to explore the beauty of Antalya at night. Overnight in Antalya.
Day 2: Konya and Cappadocia (Breakfast)
After breakfast you’ll begin the drive to Konya at 08:00, with a break for coffee en route. You’ll arrive in Konya in time for lunch at around 13:00. After lunch you’ll visit the imposing green-tiled Mausoleum of Mevlana, the mystic founder of the Sufi sect (Whirling Dervishes). Drive to Cappadocia.
You’ll arrive in Cappadocia at around 18:30 and check in at your hotel. If you’d like to join the optional ballooning activity on Day 3, please contact your guide to register, as the activity takes place early in the morning. Overnight in Cappadocia.
If you’re not booked on a Konya tour, you’ll have an hour’s free time in the city center, where you’ll find shops and restaurants available.
Day 3: Cappadocia Tour (Breakfast)
Your tour begins at 09:30 with a pick-up at your hotel. Start out at Uchisar Castle, the highest point in Cappadocia. Visit the Goreme Open Air Museum, known for its 10th-century frescoes that depict the life of Christ. Next stop is Cavusin, an abandoned village with old Greek cave-houses.
After visiting Cavusin you’ll take a break for lunch at a restaurant in Avanos. After lunch you’ll see how pottery is made at a pottery workshop before heading to Pasabagi to marvel the unique 3-headed fairy chimneys. Stop at another workshop to see Cappadocian handwoven carpets and kilims.
Your next stop is in the Devrent (Imagination) Valley to admire the natural rock formations that look like animals. Then it’s time for some wine tasting at a wine shop in Urgup!
Last stop on this day’s tour is at 3 Beauties, a group of stunning fairy chimneys topped with hats that are the symbol of Cappadocia. This tour ends at approximately 18:00 and you’ll be transferred to your hotel. Overnight in Cappadocia.
If you do not have a Cappadocia pass, you can either stay at the hotel or buy one of 15 optional daily tours.
Day 4: Cappadocia and Ankara City Tour; Istanbul (Breakfast)
Depart at 09:00 for the 4-hour trip to Ankara. On the way, the tour stops at Salt Lake, the second-largest lake in Turkey.
You’ll arrive in Ankara at around 12:30, just in time for lunch. After lunch you’ll visit the Ataturk Museum at the Ataturk Mausoleum. Then you’ll continue on to Istanbul, with a coffee break at a restaurant about half way. By 19:00 you’ll be in Istanbul, where you’ll spend the night.
Day 5: Istanbul Departure (Breakfast)
After breakfast you’ll check out of your hotel and be transferred to Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport for your departing flight.
