This tour was so great. It was just my partner myself and the amazing guide Hisako. Hisako provided a really interesting introduction to Japanese history as we walked through the beautiful temples and narrow laneways of the old city in Gion. Hisako is a very talented artist and she did drawings to help explain parts of the history and architecture of the area. Also it was really good value, the route went for more than two hours. Loved it.
Hisako is an excellent communicator. We got just the introduction to Kyoto's key shrines that we needed, along with historical and religious background information. Hisako was happy to answer all our questions and made us feel at home in her environment. Great for a half day tour.
She had her own pencil drawings and extensive written out explanations. It was a little bit elementary school but also excellent to provide historical context and pulling out the most important pieces.
What a wonderful tour. Our tour guide knew everything and told us so many interesting stories. One of the best tours we made. Highly recommended to all visiting Kyoto.
Really interesting and enjoyable. I learned so much about Japanese history, culture and religion which really helped put the places I saw in context.
