Nuremberg Old Town and Nazi Rally Grounds Walking Tour

Nuremberg Old Town and Nazi Rally Grounds Walking Tour

Meet us in front of the train station (Hauptbahnhof) and explore Nuremberg’s medieval walled Old Town as well as the infamous former Nazi Rally Grounds on this English-language tour. See the Craftsmen's Court, where local artisans still work with traditional materials and methods, and enjoy views over the city from the Imperial Castle courtyards, where Holy Roman Emperors ruled Germany for over 500 years. Explore Gothic churches with inspiring works by master artists, admire some of the best preserved medieval fortifications in Europe, and find out where to try the city's famous sausages and amber lager. Stroll through the Hauptmarkt, where colorful markets have been held for nearly 700 years. Take in the seasonal markets and festivals, including the Christmas markets in December, while getting recommendations from your guide on where you can enjoy the best traditional food, beer, and wine in the city. You'll hear tales and legends from the middle ages and renaissance, as well as get practical information about the city today. After seeing the Old Town, we take a break for lunch in the marketplace before boarding a bus to the former Nazi Party Rally Grounds. Some of the largest Third Reich remains left in the world still silently testify to the megalomania of a madman. We'll show you the parade grounds, where Adolf Hitler inspected columns of SS men and performed pseudo-religious cult rituals before the saluting masses as part of the Nazi propaganda machine. You'll also learn how the city of Nuremberg deals with this dark part of its past today. Then we enter the remains of the Congress Hall of the Nazi Party, Hitler's half-finished attempt to build a Roman Colosseum. FInally, we take a tram (streetcar) back at the train station (Hauptbahnhof) where the tour began. All public transportation costs are included in the tour price. The total time of the tour including lunch break is about 4 hours. Our goal is to both inform and entertain the English-speaking visitors to this great city. We offer tours led by experienced, fluent English-speaking guides and believe the best way to see Nuremberg is on foot.

You will be cruising on the Great Brombach Lake, the largest of the Franconian lakes and with a water surface of 8.7 Km². The wonderful crew personnel will make sure you will always feel comfortable. Enjoy the large selection of food and drinks at the self-service counter. Savour a typical specialty, the Franconian sausages, and a delicious beer brewed in the regional breweries not far from the lake. Or how about a crisp salad from the galley? Desserts such as ice cream are also available on board. And do not miss the lively nature of the lake, so nicely enriched by the many plants and animals. And if you are lucky, you will also meet the hard-working beavers. Would you like to know more? In the on-board shop you can get brochures, cycling maps, selected souvenirs, and items to further deepen your knowledge and fix the memories of the Franconian Lake District. The Great Brombach Lake is the heart of the Franconian Lake District. Here there are no limitations such as sluices and bridges - the prerequisite for the uniqueness of our barrier-free ship: 46 meters long, 19 meters wide and with its three decks over 13 meters high. It has room for 750 passengers And hard to believe, we only sail with an amazing 1.40 meter draft. This is the result of the trimaran's unique design. With this shallow draft, we can dock almost anywhere and let our passengers board and disembark steplessly via the bow hatch. Such a ship is unparalleled anywhere in the world. This masterpiece of the LUX shipyard was laid down in 2000. The ship has a panoramic elevator over three decks.

Paul made this tour excellent for my father and me. He was very knowledgeable and full of information about the history of the city, the Holy Roman Empire, the rise and fall of Hitler and the Nazis, and many other facts and figures. His discussions of the topics were expanded upon by references to quotes from important writers and philosophers who have studied the Holocaust. My father is hard of hearing and Paul spoke loud enough for him to hear and with excellent diction that made it easy to understand him. It was also clear that Paul was passionate about the subject. Three weeks in Europe and this tour was my father’s favorite, in large part due to Paul and his ability to make a narrative from the history. I highly recommend this tour with Paul.

Paul was one of the most amazing guides we have had the pleasure of doing a tour with. He was extremely knowledgeable, insightful and had wonderful stories to share, which really elevated our entire experience. Absolutely phenomenal guide!

Tour guide Natalie provided an excellent insight all the way through the tour. Supporting information worked very well to illustrate the tour and explain the history. It was a great tour. Thank you.

My driver turned out to be quite knowledgeable and was a guide as well. He was personable and a joy to have. I would be thrilled to have Tomas again in the future.

The small group and the competent tour guide were great. The places where there was a snack were excellent!
