Covid-19 Update

Due to health and safety regulations, this itinerary may change. See Know before you go for the latest updates.

After you have been equipped with a warm safety overall and a life vest, step aboard a modern RIB speedboat to begin your exciting adventure. Head out to the beautiful surroundings of Skjálfandi Bay while your specialized guide demonstrates safety on-board and gives you live commentary on the sights encountered along the way. Your first visit will be Puffin Island during the nesting period (April 15 – August 20), where you can observe thousands of colorfully-beaked puffins, often called "the Clowns of the Ocean." The high speeds of your boat will make it more likely you will spot some of the bigger whales, such as the majestic blue whales and acrobatic humpback whales. Watching whales in their natural environment from a RIB speedboat is a unique experience. At the end of the tour, enjoy a little surprise from a local winemaker.

I simply loved it! Is my 3rd whale watching tour and I have to say is the first time I really enjoyed it. We were lucky to find a whale willing to play with us..we saw her 3 time from head to toe and really close. The boat is very fast, stable, it is perfect. Was out 2 times before with a normal boat and got sick because of the waves, did not believe I will return alive on shore :) and the only think I saw was a small tail of a whale too far away from the boat. Really recomment these guys and fast boat tours in general.

An incredible morning spent with Henrik and the Gentle Giants crew. The boat was in great shape and the captain was personable and got us close to the action quickly. We had a whales right next to the boat, and even one that slid under the boat (engine was off) and it was an absolutely magical experience. Both sides of the boat had plenty of action for photos etc. Henrik was great with the guests and had conversations with each group, not just a generic speech for the whole crowd. I highly recommend Gentle Giants, and especially in the small boats.

Natalia and the whole staff were great. Ocean was smooth and they outfitted us with waterproof coveralls with roomy pockets for phones/camera. You are sitting on individual padded stools with Safety bar to hold onto. You do not wonder the boat but can easily see every way but directly behind the boat. We moved faster and saw more than the slower big boats. Tons of puffins, 2-3 hump back whales, probably at least 50 frolicking dolphins and 4-5 okras ( which guide said is not always seen I that area.) It is worth the extra money to see more and cover more area than the regular boats. Do bring your own gloves and head covering.
