Enjoyed our trip. The views are amazing even before you see the whale(s). We saw one humpback and it took half the trip to find that, as the previous day's sailings were cancelled so they were harder to track down. Yes it's bumpy and yes some people will be sick. Our main guide was very helpful, giving further info and advice on road conditions and how to travel safely. Captain was a little rude, pushing past me on his way up to his post but I wasn't going to get on his wrong side! Overall a good company, nice boats and yes I do much prefer the natural boats to the ribs. Cold enough on this type of boat (there's no indoors!) never mind about whizzing around on a rib! Wrap up warm and take the overalls they give you. You'll need them. Great to see these creatures in their natural habitat and with a responsible, environmentally-aware company.
This was a great experience! The guide was absolutely fantastic and we saw 1 Minke Whale, 3 Humpback Whales feeding and diving (right off the bow of the ship), a pair of dolphins, Puffins and some Northern Gannets! The time of the tour was perfect...not too long and not too short! They served hot chocolate and a cinnamon roll when headed back to the dock, which was very good. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Iceland and the town of Husavik is charming and friendly! It snowed and was quite cold - dress in many layers with face coverings and gloves - no messing around - to be comfortable. It was probably the funnest thing we have done. Someone did get sick though :( over the side of the boat.. take some Dramamine if worried!
We went on this trip for my 40th birthday with my mum too. The host was excellent, very friendly and with useful information. The boat was a bit too crowded but we still had a great time. Amazing to see three humpback whales and so special to have this intimate encounter with these gentle giants. Hot chocolate and cinnamon bun was excellent and much needed! Take snacks and water with you, dress warm and take travel sickness tablets beforehand if you need them.
The trip was nice, we enjoyed it, We had the chance to spot only 1 whale, but we consider ourselves lucky. We would appreciate maybe more talking, info, interesting information from Icelandic life while from the guide. It was 3 hour boat ride and the most of the time we were just sailing and not seeing anything, I guess it would be more entertaining.
The staff was friendly, the boat was clean, the trip wasn't too long or too short. We saw a humpback whale come up for air several times, and it decided to come up right next to our boat at one point. We also saw white-beaked dolphins and I saw a jelly fish. The hot chocolate and cinnamon rolls were a nice touch.
