How to Spend One Day in Hurghada

Hurghada was once a small fishing town and has gone through a bit of a reincarnation. Today, it's a beautiful resort town on the coast of the Red Sea. A day trip to Hurghada is a popular choice for visitors all around Egypt, and especially from Cairo.

Go for a scuba or a snorkel!

The year-round temperate climate means you can swim at almost any time you like. Enjoy the sea life - dolphins, for instance! - and get in touch with nature when you're visiting Hurghada.

Explore the old city

El Dhakar is the old part of Hurghada, perfect for a stroll while getting in touch with ancient Egypt. Feel the reverberations of the history of Hurghada as you sample local cuisine and take in the sights and sounds of the neighborhood.

Dance the night away

Hurghada is known for its pounding nightlife. Located between two port cities on the coast, Hurghada gets a lot of visitors and hosts many a soirée. Explore the many ways to spend an evening while you're in town.

Explore modern Hurghada

The most modern architecture of Hurghada is in a neighborhood called El Memsha. Walk around and see what a modern city looks like in Egypt.

Visit a shipwreck!

Visitors enjoy visiting living shipwrecks on the coast of the Red Sea. Some of the popular ones are the El Mina or the Rosalie Moller.

Planning Your Visit

When to go to Hurghada?

The weather in Hurghada is warm year round. Temperatures stay above 60 degrees and most of the year you'll find yourself in a pleasant cocoon of 77 degrees or more - perfect for watersports, yachting and seaside strolls!

What People Are Saying About Hurghada

If you are a bit of an Adventurer you will love this trip !

This is not a trip for the feint hearted. Cairo is around three hundred miles from Hurghada. So including Taxi transfer from your Hotel to the Bus station and back its around twelve hours travelling time in total. But the ‘bus’ is actually a coach with toilets, air conditioning and reclining seats. So you will be very comfortable on the journey. Is it worth the effort ? Absolutely ! The whole experience is Awesome. The Great Pyramid has to be seen to be believed. The trip includes a visit to Cairo Museum so you also get to see all the marvellous exhibits including Tutankhamun. The whole trip experience was made by my Guide in Cairo - ‘Ahmed’. Ahmed was an absolute Encyclopaedia of information. I was spellbound by his commentary that provided in depth information on every area visited. Fantastic. Conclusion: JUST DO IT !!!! If you only go on one adventure in your life make it this one. An experience that you will cherish and remember for the rest of your life.

A very good full day with excellent guide

The day was a long one, so be prepared for that - around 15 hours for us including 7-8 travelling - but that comfortable in a new mininbus, so no issues. Excellent guide, Mohammed, very knowledgable and helped guide us past many of the street hawkers! Highlights were the Temple of Karnak, the Valley of the Kings and the River Nile trip - be aware that both these last two involve charges and you will need to pay in Egyptian pounds (100 per person per activity when we went). Didn't need the stops at the Papyrus Museum and the Alibaster shop, but they are part of the package and at least you weren't pressured to buy anything (though we did!) Only issue for us was make sure you use the same e-mail address to book the trip as to confirm it when over in Egypt, if you won't be aware of your pick up time which is confirmed a day or two before you go.

Excellent trip , excellent value for money fantastic guide.

Can not fault day, was informed about pick up time before the day, our guide had a excellent knowledge of Egypt past and present. We were looked after from start to finish, it was so surreal to be at the places we have seen on television words can not describe how we felt being at these fantastic places in Egypt. We felt safe and relaxed throughout the day and well informed the short Nile cruise finished the tour of brilletly. If you are thinking about booking this just book it was a fantastic day with memories that will stay with you forever. You need to take with you just over 20 Egypt pound for the two extra parts that are not included , however well worth it.

Mohammed was a great guide. Long trip but worth it.

We really enjoyed the trip and Mohammed was very knowledgeable and informative. He answered any questions we had and also made it fun. It was very organised, we felt safe and looked after. The food was very good and there was plenty for everyone to eat. Allow 25 Egyptian pounds each for a drink with the meal. We chose the mango juice which was lovely and refreshing. We did the optional boat trip for £7.50 each. We were in a group of 7, some English speaking and some German speaking. Each group had it's own guide in the appropriate language. I would recommend this trip to anyone wishing to see Luxor.

Luxor Day Trip by Car from Hurghada Reviewed by Vivienne, 01/10/2017

Good, lots of fun, Bedouin camp kind of tacky, not authentic

The ride was fun, bedouin camp kind of tacky and not authentic at all, too bad the guide did not stop in the desert on the way back to see the stars, which would have been an awesone experience. Food was ok, too overrun with tourists. Show was terrible, only highlight was the "dancing" boy, which was awesome.
