Hike Hong Kong’s Dragon’s Back trail on a 4.5-hour walking tour and discover why Time Magazine hailed it as Asia's best urban hike. Trek the hills outside Hong Kong’s metro sprawl for panoramic views of 9 Pins Islands, the Red Hill peninsula and more.
What to Expect
Start this half-day hike of Hong Kong’s Dragon’s Back trail on the iconic and much loved Hong Kong tram, which commenced operations in 1904. Watch the commuters heading to work, as you rattle along what was once the waterfront. Then, complete your journey on the MTR (Mass Transit Railway). Take in the atmosphere of Shau Kei Wan wet market, and experience life of ordinary Hong Kongers as they go about their daily activities.
Commence your hike along a lovely cool path through shady groves of bamboo and lush woodland, accompanied by birdsong. Emerge into open hillsides, often covered with wild azaleas or rose myrtle. Reach the spectacular Shek O Country Park, and follow the rugged spinal ridge of Dragon's Back as it undulates through breathtaking views of the distant 9 Pins Islands, sandy Big Wave Bay, Tai Tam Harbour, Stanley, and Red Hill peninsula.
Stroll down through shaded tunnels of exotic vegetation, before you transfer back to central Hong Kong. Alternatively, you can continue to the nearby fishing village of Shek O to try some of the popular seafood restaurants or relax on the beach.
