Hollandsche Schouwburg National Holocaust Memorial: Tours & Tickets
What people are saying about Hollandsche Schouwburg National Holocaust Memorial
Your ticket is valid at four sites and each is worth exploring. The Jewish Historical Museum is housed mainly in two former synagogues and had many interesting exhibits about Judaism and Jewish life in the Netherlands. The Portuguese Synagogue is across the street. It was interesting to tour this historic building, which is still in use as a synagogue. Nearby is the National Holocaust Memorial, in a former theatre that was used as a deportation center during WWII. Across the street is the National Holocaust Museum. Although not yet complete, you can see a number of exhibits as a preview.
The overall experience was excellent. The visit to the Jewish quarter was very humbling. Disappointed to have missed one of the museums was closed for refurbishment. The Gassan diamond experience was very interesting, the tour guide very knowledgeable. They shouldn’t bother about the free gift though, a polishing cloth and a cup warmer was a bit of a let down when they advertise a sparkling gift but it’s free.
Very worthwhile to understand Anne Frank's story
Excellent guide - got new insights into the experiences of the Jewish community under the Nazi rule - and the role of the local population in the destruction of Dutch Jewry
Our tour guide - Vincent - was informative, interactive, friendly, and really great! We had a group of 7 with us and he really made the tour great for all of us!
