Meet locals on a full-day adventure tour of the Mekong Delta and cruise along the Mekong River. Learn about the cottage industries of the locals, such as making coconut candy. Visit a bee farm, row down narrow canals, and more.
What to Expect
Travel to the heart of the Mekong Delta on this 8-hour adventure from Ho Chi Minh City. Climb aboard a private longtail boat to experience the diversity of the Mekong waterways first hand. Explore fish farms, exotic fruit farms, and much more.
Following a pick-up in Ho Chi Minh City, drive to My Tho by air-conditioned mini-coach. A former naval base, My Tho is now a bustling port city in the Mekong Delta. The area is the final destination of the Mekong River, which winds its way through Tibet, China, Burma, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
An incredibly fertile region, its prime industry is food production, producing approximately half of Vietnam's total agricultural output. Life for villagers in the area revolves around the rivers and canals, and the preferred mode of transport is by river rather than by road.
Upon arrival at My Tho, board a private boat and cruise along the Mekong River. Your local guide will take you to an island of lush tropical gardens, where you'll have the chance to sample tropical fruits. Continue to another island to learn about the traditional cottage industry of making coconut candy at a local factory.
You'll also visit Mekong villages to experience the traditional lifestyles, culture, and customs of the river people up close. Continue by Xe Loi (motorized cart) to a bee farm, where you will transfer to a smaller rowing boat that allows you to get deeper into the small canals of the Delta.
Lunch will be served at the local restaurant, where you will sample some of the delights of Mekong cuisine, before cruising back to My Tho for the return journey to Ho Chi Minh City.
