This day trip combines 2 great activities: a tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels and a tour of Ben Tre - an island of coconuts in the Mekong Delta.
What to Expect
You will be picked up at 07:00 to be taken to Cu Chi. Here you will begin learnign about the history of the Vietnam War by watching a short documentary about the life of the Viet Cong guerilla fighters. You will be shown an exhibition displaying tanks, bomb craters and booby traps and then move onto guests' favorite part of the tour: exploration of the tunnels. During the war the tunnels served as supply routes, weapon caches and even hospitals. You will learn about guerillas' life in the tunnels and even get the chance to try food eaten by the Viet Cong.
You will then depart for Ben Tre, one of Vietnam’s largest coconut producing towns. Sit back and relax during the 2-hour drive as you take in views of the rice fields, plantations, and farm life. Upon arrival, travel by long tail boat trip along the Ham Luong River.
Lunch will be served at a small riverside restaurant, where you can try fish from the Mekong Delta, such as “Elephant Ear Fish" with fresh rice noodles.
Travel down one of the small canals by sampan, enjoying the beautiful riverside scenery before experiencing the landscape by bike on a 15-kilometer bike ride around the beautiful island. Pedal past coconut plantations and along the side of small canals. Go to the house of a local family for some green tea and coconut juice. See the traditional pottery of the village. Then, enjoy a short rest on a hammock.
You will then travel back to Ho Chi Minh City; your estimated time of arrival back in thew city is approximately 18:00.
