Marvel at the elaborate Cao Dai Temple of Tay Ninh on an 8-hour private tour. Attend a midday service at the Cao Dai temple. Then, learn more about the Viet Cong and American War at the Cu Chi Tunnels. Shoot an AK47 or MK16, and more.
What to Expect
Experience an authentic Cao Dai service in Tay Ninh, and learn more about the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War at their network of tunnels in Cu Chi on a full-day private tour from Ho Chi Minh City.
Depart Ho Chi Minh City at 08:00, and drive to Tay Ninh to observe the midday service in the main temple of Caodaism. Located near the border with Cambodia, the colorful temple is the “Holy See” of the Cao Dai sect, a hybrid of Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and Christianity that was set up in Tay Ninh in the 1920s.
Described as a “Walt Disney fantasia of the East,” the temple exterior is an elaborate design of multi-colored dragons of all shapes and sizes, and an all-seeing holy eye above the main entrance. Inside, statues of Jesus, Buddha and Brahma stand side-by-side.
After lunch, drive to the Cu Chi Tunnels, a network of underground passages that stretched from Saigon to the Cambodian border at its peak; a distance of about 250 kilometers. Access to the tunnels was through tiny trap doors, while inside the Viet Cong built specially constructed living areas, kitchens, storage facilities, weapons factories and even field hospitals as part of their war strategy.
Experience what life underground was like for the Viet Cong during the Vietnam (American) War in tunnels that have now been widened for the comfort of tourists! There will also be the opportunity to go to a rifle range and fire AK47s or MK16s; allegedly the old wooden targets were made to resemble US Marines!
