Explore the Mekong Delta Region from Ho Chi Minh City. Explore Vietnamese towns, and take in the sunning panorama of the Vietnamese and Cambodian regions. Learn of the processes involved in making local foods, and then taste the colorful delicacies. Learn of fish float farming, and visit a bee farm. See this stunning region up close during this 3-day tour.
Day 1: Saigon - Cu Chi - Mytho
Leaving Saigon, drive through pleasant countryside before arriving at Cu Chi. Before entering the tunnels you will watch a short introductory video showing how the tunnels were constructed. Then, explore the maze of tunnels, and discover various mantraps and the remains of an American tank.
Proceed to Mytho (around 45km). Stop at Mekong Rest Stop halfway for lunch then arrive at Mytho, where you will take the private boat. Journey to Turtle Island by boat and explore this beautiful island with many orchards. Here, you can enjoy a variety of tropical fruits while listening to traditional South Vietnamese folk songs, performed by local artists.
Then, you will visit a bee farm. While here try some honey tea and taste local confectionery. Finally, we will go back to the harbour and stop overnight at Mytho.
Day 2: Mytho - Cai Be Floating Market
After breakfast drive to Cai Be. Upon arrival, take a boat trip to the floating market at Cai Be. Here you will explore the authentic Delta house, visit a fruit wholesale market, and discover a family-ran business producing rice paper – a key ingredient in Vietnamese cuisine.
You will then visit some local cottage industries, such as the coconut candy workshop. You will also learn how to make pop-rice and witness the process of making rice paper.
Continue with the cruise through the maze of canals and arrive at an ancient house. Here you can taste the fresh tropical fruits of the delta and have an authentic Vietnamese lunch with local cuisines.
After lunch, visit the Nursery Garden of Mr Tam Ho. Continue cruising to visit the Brick and pottery kiln, and then head to Vinh Long town. Drive from Vinh Long town to Chau Doc for and overnight stay.
Day 3: Chaudoc – Long Xuyen - HCMC
In the morning, take a boat cruise on Hau River to discover floating fish farming, where you will see local families breeding fish underneath their houses. Then you will travel to visit a Cham-minority village.
Later on, you will drive to Sam Mount, a popular pilgrimage site of the Vietnamese Buddhists. A climb uphill to the peak of the mountain will offer stunning panorama of the nearby Vietnamese and Cambodian regions.
Drive to Saigon with stop en route in Long Xuyen to view the making of incense sticks. Arrival in to Saigon about 6 pm.
