Higuey

Your tour starts when you are picked up at your hotel lobby or the agreed meeting point in an air-conditioned minivan. On your drive to Higuey, you will be able to see some of the countryside and sugar cane plantations. Feel free to ask your guide questions during the drive.    Once in Higuey, you will visit The Basilica Cathedral Nuestra Señora de La Altagracia, a Roman Catholic minor basilica and Cathedral dedicated to Our Lady of Altagracia patroness of the nation. You will also visit the local market and the main park to see how the locals live and the beauty of the city. After your visit to Higuey, you will be driven to Bavaro where you will visit some shop so you can buy souvenirs for your friends and relatives. Once you finish shopping, it is time to go back to your hotel.

Whether you're an aficionado or a newbie, enjoy demonstrations, stories and samples from the masters of the craft. Take a ride through the sugar cane fields. Learn about their history and the hard work that goes into their maintenance. And of course, try some samples. Finally, stop into the village of Benerito. Enjoy a spread of plantain, Dominican salami, and cassava, specially prepared by a local family. You're then invited to their garden, alive with pineapple, cassava, corossol, coconut palm, and more.
