What People Are Saying About Herculaneum
We were picked up by comfortable air conditioned coach and our tour guide explained interesting facts on the way to Pompeii. little bit of delay and hassle as we all had to queue up and buy our own tickets. Pompeii itself what we saw was just awesome, and our guide Mariana was great at explaining everything. just to be there and experienceit was amazing. Although lunch itself was nice we had no choice of where we went and had to eat where we were taken. we shared a pizza and only paid for one meal. Then off to Herculaneum, buildings more well preserved, smaller site. definietly worth a visit, I found it useful doing the two in one day a good contrast, both equally poignant, but an amazing experience, Mariana made it a very interesting and informative day. It was very hot and humid, but we got to see all herculaneum, not rushed, and a good selection of Pompeii, which is a huge site. tour length was good. really enjoyed it.
This was a good trip with a very early start. However we did spend the first hour collecting people from local hotels, and this was somewhat due to heavy traffic. Once we got going the trip was fine other than another traffic queue near to Herculaneum. The guide was knowledgeable, interesting and very quirky! The site is very much smaller than Pompeii and better preserved. Definitely worth a half day visit.
