What to Expect
This private full-day tour is perfect for visitors looking to share a unique experience with locals during their time in Crete. Throughout the day you’ll be accompanied by a former journalist and restaurant chef (French and English speaking) as your guide.

In a small and friendly group (a maximum of 8 participants), you’ll begin your experience by meeting a shepherd in the mountains and learning the traditional way of making cheese. Enjoy a walk as you admire the scenic views, and plants and flowers of the area.

Cretan shepherds are legendary, and there are many stories about their way of live and their love for their island. Take a walk along a mountain path to visit a shepherd and learn about traditional cheese making. Enjoy the hospitality and of course, the taste of Cretan cheese.

Cooking lovers and those curious about the culture will enjoy participating in a friendly Cretan cooking lesson. Ladies from a traditional village will share some secrets, tips, and recipes with you before you prepare some wild herbs pies, stuffed grape leaves, and other tasty dishes.

Taste some Cretan wines in a friendly wine tasting and learn about some of the local grape varieties.

Visit one of the best restaurants in the area for a traditional lunch. Enjoy a selection of cold and warm mezzes (small plates to share). Take some time for a walk through a picturesque traditional mountain village, and stop at a cafeneion, a local bar.

You’ll also stop at a very old kazani, where raki, the grape marc spirit is distilled. Wander through alleyways and hear about the centuries of history, from resistance fighters to famous novelists like Nikos Kazantzakis, who spent time in this charming place.
