Sydney: Wildlife, Waterfalls and Wine Small Group Tour

1. Sydney: Wildlife, Waterfalls and Wine Small Group Tour

Be part of a small group of no more than 11 travelers and journey by comfortable minibus, south along the beaches of Botany Bay and into the Royal National Park. Wind through the forest and stop at Bald Hill Lookout, which affords sweeping views of the Illawarra coastline and the famous Sea Cliff Bridge. Next, it's on to the family-run Symbio Wildlife Park, active in koala conservation. Find out everything you ever wanted to know about these fascinating marsupials during a private koala presentation with a keeper. Snap the ultimate selfie - just you and a koala. You’ll also be able to feed kangaroos and wallabies and get up close with native Australian wildlife. Continue to follow the scenic coastline of the Grand Pacific Drive across the Sea Cliff Bridge as it sweeps out over the ocean and on to Bulli Beach where you’ll enjoy lunch in a café popular with locals that overlooks the beach and an ocean pool. Bring your swimmers for a pre-lunch dip if the sun is out. In the afternoon head up through temperate rainforest into the Southern Highlands. An easy hike leads to viewpoints that take in the spectacular sandstone gorges and towering waterfalls of the Morton National Park. Finally, you’ll drive along country roads to a boutique winery to taste locally-produced, cool climate wine before returning to Sydney. Arrival back at Circular Quay is around 6:30 PM.

From Sydney: Private Day Tour of the Royal National Park

2. From Sydney: Private Day Tour of the Royal National Park

The day starts with pickup from your accommodation and we then head to the Royal National Park. Upon reaching the park, we will have a short stop at serene Audley Weir. From here the tour is flexible and we can choose between visiting Wedding Cake Rock, Eagle Rock or a walk in the rainforest. All three places require a hike ranging from 1.5 hours to 2.5 hours. The first two places allow us to see wonderful coastal scenery. Your guide will outline the walk times and differences between the two. The third walk is through an enchanting rainforest with ferns, cabbage tree palms and giant red cedar trees. If you'd prefer not to do the walks we can visit several places further south of the park, such as the Otford Lookout, Coledale Beach and the iconic Imperial at Clifton Hotel. If you choose to walk to Wedding Cake Rock we will admire dramatic coastal views of cliffs and unusual sandstone formations. Upon arrival, discover an amazingly large piece of white sandstone, resembling the shape of a wedding cake. Watch as it sparkles against the background of the blue Pacific Ocean. A little further on is spectacular Marley Beach, which is viewed from a high lookout point. Marley Beach is an expansive untouched landscape merging into sand dunes and behind the dunes is a pristine freshwater reeded lagoon. Alternatively choose the Eagle Rock walk and follow a track that passes waterfalls and cliffs with stunning ocean views. See many native plants including Wattles, Banksias, Grass Trees and Gymea Lillies. We will see native birds including the Australian Raven and New Holland Honeyeater. If lucky we may come across an echidna. Upon arrival at Eagle Rock admire crystal clear Curracurrong Creek as it reaches the cliff edge and drops directly into the ocean below. The waterfall drops 40 meters into a shallow bay and if sunny the ocean water takes on a translucent green color. When the surf is up you'll hear the pounding waves hit the cliff face below. After either Eagle Rock or Wedding Cake Rock, venture to Wattamolla, which has a wide waterfall dropping into a lagoon. The lagoon then forms into a stream that gently meanders to a beach. Enjoy a refreshing lunch prepared by your guide. From this point, discover the areas south of the park such as Bald Hill and Sea Cliff Bridge, or make our way to Symbio Wildlife Park where many native animals live - koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, dingoes, kangaroos, wallabies, Tasmanian Devils, emus, cassawarries and little penguins. The park allows visitors to get up close to the kangaroos and wallabies and hand feed them grass. This is a private tour reserved for your group only. We save time by not having to wait for or pick up and drop off people at other locations. The tour is completely flexible and your knowledgeable guide will make suggestions based on what you want to do. At the end of the day we will return to your accommodation having had a an invigorating day in the Royal National Park.

What people are saying about Helensburgh

This was a great trip! Our guide was Wonderful! He shared so much and could answer any questions. He seemed to enjoy sharing his country with us! Symbio Wildlife Park was fantastic! So great to be there with no crowds: lots of time with Koalas and Kangaroos up close and personal, seeing the cockatoos fly around, lots of other native animals . The coastal views from Bald Hill Lookout were fabulous and lunch at the restaurant in Bulli was great with an opportunity to swim if you wanted in the ocean pool! The Fitzroy waterfall in Morton National Park was lovely and our guide told us lots of info about the Native Peoples and the rainforest. The only part of the tour that was a bit underwhelming was the wine tasting, but the winery was lovely and we had a great time! The bus was small but the scenery was pretty much the same on each side so there wasn't a feeling of missing out and the commentary was interesting and made the time fly by. Heartily recommend this tour!!!!

We had a fantastic day with Steve, he was very charismatic and planned an amazing tour for us. I appreciated how knowledgeable he was about the area and local wildlife and he always had some great stories which also contributed to our great day. Could not recommend it enough! We were extremely close to the koalas and the kangaroos and getting to the wildlife park before it opened to the public made our experience exponentially better! The wine and cheese tasting at the most beautiful winery was a perfect end to the day.

Best day ever. A must do tour if in Sydney. Up close memories to last a life time with Koalas and Kangaroos followed by an awesome lunch, incredible views of Fitzroy Falls, ended with a fantastic wine tasting experience all with a knowledgeable, funny guide. It’s so well organised, and offers excellent value for money. 10/10 highly recommended.

Such a great tour! Our guide Steve was amazing and made a genuine effort to get to know each of us. We had a fun group and lunch was very enjoyable. The koala experience was so extra special! Thank you!

Other Steve was very informative and always funny and relaxed. 100% Australian. No worries :-)
