Sydney: Wildlife, Waterfalls and Wine Small Group Tour

1. Sydney: Wildlife, Waterfalls and Wine Small Group Tour

Be part of a small group of no more than 11 travelers and journey by comfortable minibus, south along the beaches of Botany Bay and into the Royal National Park. Wind through the forest and stop at Bald Hill Lookout, which affords sweeping views of the Illawarra coastline and the famous Sea Cliff Bridge. Next, it's on to the family-run Symbio Wildlife Park, active in koala conservation. Find out everything you ever wanted to know about these fascinating marsupials during a private koala presentation with a keeper. Snap the ultimate selfie - just you and a koala. You’ll also be able to feed kangaroos and wallabies and get up close with native Australian wildlife. Continue to follow the scenic coastline of the Grand Pacific Drive across the Sea Cliff Bridge as it sweeps out over the ocean and on to Bulli Beach where you’ll enjoy lunch in a café popular with locals that overlooks the beach and an ocean pool. Bring your swimmers for a pre-lunch dip if the sun is out. In the afternoon head up through temperate rainforest into the Southern Highlands. An easy hike leads to viewpoints that take in the spectacular sandstone gorges and towering waterfalls of the Morton National Park. Finally, you’ll drive along country roads to a boutique winery to taste locally-produced, cool climate wine before returning to Sydney. Arrival back at Circular Quay is around 6:30 PM.

From Sydney: Private Day Trip to the Royal National Park

2. From Sydney: Private Day Trip to the Royal National Park

The day starts with pickup from your accommodation and we then head to the Royal National Park. Upon reaching the park, we will have a short stop at serene Audley Weir. From here the tour is flexible and we can choose between visiting Wedding Cake Rock, Eagle Rock or a walk in the rainforest. All three places require a hike ranging from 1.5 hours to 2.5 hours. The first two places allow us to see wonderful coastal scenery. Your guide will outline the walk times and differences between the two. The third walk is through an enchanting rainforest with ferns, cabbage tree palms and giant red cedar trees. If you'd prefer not to do the walks we can visit several places further south of the park, such as the Otford Lookout, Coledale Beach and the iconic Imperial at Clifton Hotel. If you choose to walk to Wedding Cake Rock we will admire dramatic coastal views of cliffs and unusual sandstone formations. Upon arrival, discover an amazingly large piece of white sandstone, resembling the shape of a wedding cake. Watch as it sparkles against the background of the blue Pacific Ocean. A little further on is spectacular Marley Beach, which is viewed from a high lookout point. Marley Beach is an expansive landscape merging into sand dunes. Behind the dunes is a pristine freshwater lagoon. Alternatively choose the Eagle Rock walk and follow a track that passes waterfalls, cliffs, and massive cliffs. See many native plants including Wattles, Banksias, Grass Trees and Gymea Lillies. We will see native birds including the Australian Raven and New Holland Honeyeater. If lucky we may come across an echidna. Upon arrival at Eagle Rock admire crystal clear Curracurrong Creek as it reaches the cliff edge and drops directly into the ocean below. The waterfall drops 40 meters into a shallow bay and if sunny the ocean water takes on a translucent green color. When the surf is up you'll hear the pounding waves hit the cliff face below. After either Eagle Rock or Wedding Cake Rock, venture to Wattamolla, which has a wide waterfall dropping into a lagoon. The lagoon then forms into a stream that gently meanders to the nearby beach. Enjoy a refreshing lunch prepared by your guide. From this point, discover the areas south of the park such as Bald Hill and Sea Cliff Bridge, or make our way to Symbio Wildlife Park where many native animals live - koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, dingoes, kangaroos, wallabies, Tasmanian Devils, emus, cassawarries and little penguins. The park allows you to get up close to the kangaroos and wallabies and feed them grass should we so choose. This is a private tour reserved for your group only. We save time by not having to wait for or pick up and drop off people at other locations. The tour is completely flexible and your knowledgeable guide will make suggestions based on what you want to do. At the end of the day we will return you to your accommodation having had a day in nature to remember.

What people are saying about Helensburgh

My tour and guide, Anne-Maree were both fantastic! I really enjoyed learning about the plants and wildlife and exploring the national park with her. While I brought my own camera to take photos of the park, I really appreciated her offering to take photos of me so I could have some great memories as well.

Amazing day!!! Could not have been better. The sights so beautiful! Beaches! Waterfall! And of course the wonderful kangaroos, koalas, emu, blue penguins. Great lunch with a lovely view. Kevin was a wonderful guide…. Informative, funny, great driver.

It was raining most of the day, but Greg did a great job and we did as most as we can. The sandwiches were very good and if required we add a stop or wenn through, really good. In total it was a very long but very good day.

The guide was helpful, pleasant, service-minded and took a lot of photos, which I appreciated. Recommend this excursion! Very beautiful views!

Greg was good to work with in advance to plan a customized itinerary. He is very knowledgeable and considerate. Highly recommended.
