This is an excellent trip to learn about Maui's sea life. The Pacific Whale Foundation runs the trip and, though it is the most expensive tour to Molokini, it is worth the small additional cost. Food on the trip was good, basic BBQ style with some limited options for food allergy sufferers (take your own snacks if in doubt). The boat crew are all young marine biology graduates of one speciality or another. This makes the educational talks varied and informative. Molokini itself is a lovely place but we were unlucky and did not see any turtles. The second "turtle location" was close to the Maui shoreline and rather rough water for snorkeling. Overall, a good trip and good value for money. I would recommend going straight to the Aquarium of the Pacific, which is right next to the Foundation and seeing the exhibits (the 3D IMAX-style movie is amazing) and sampling the restaurant for outstanding food and original Mai Tai's (definitely the best I have had).

Great experience! We actually had to do two boat tours to Molokini as the first one we went on didn't go there because of the wind, so we do have another experience to compare this to. And this one was much better! It's a big and stable boat, the lunch food is great and the guides were great too! Highly recommend!

The good: I was able to get some once in a lifetime pictures of a turtle who swam up for a few minutes. The bummer: due to weather patterns the second part of the tour (the sole reason I booked this trip-to see dolphins on an adjacent island ) was canceled and instead we had the chance swam in the open sea. I’m more of a snorkeler and wasn’t comfortable open ocean swimming. The food was meh: run of the mill whatever can be bought at Costco. We actually got off the boat pretty hungry. I understand safety is paramount but I wish we’d have had the itinerary change information before boarding. I’d only book this again if I could do the trip I signed up for.
