What to Expect
Go on a breathtaking Hanalei River and Bay Exploration, and enjoy a memorable day of sea and river doing blue water paddling, snorkeling, bird watching, beachcombing, and exploring tide pools and caves.
Start at the dock on the Heritage river of Hanalei and paddle down the calm and idyllic waters to Hanalei Bay. Take in the magnificent panoramic views to the west of Makana Peak, better known as Bali Hai. Enjoy the southern views of the fluted ridges of Namolokama, Mamalahoa, and Hihimanu peak, whose waterfalls fall onto the verdant valley of Wai'oli.
See the historic Hanalei Pier, an important landmark of early agricultural economy. Paddle west along the perimeter of the sandy shores of Hanalei Bay and explore the sea stack and caves between Wai'Koko, and the stunning cove of Lumahai. Weather permiting, you can even touch land and experience the classic cove of Lumahai, made famous in the movie South Pacific.
If you are up for exploring more, venture east, and paddle towards Ani'ni for great snorkeling, or surf kayaking. You may even see turtles and dolphins accompanied by birds such as the Boobie and Layson Albatrosses.
Lunch is included. So take advantage of the freedom and flexibility, and let yourself be swept by the beautiful sites of the day. Parts of the Bay could be off limits in winter due to the high surf. On these occasions, it is possible to explore further into the upper reaches of the Hanalei River instead.
