What People Are Saying About Hanoi

Ha Long Bay Tour - a very impressive day - well organized!

Small group, comfortable ride, a good driver and a nice and competent tour guide, who gave many information about life in Vietnam, History etc. When we arrived in HaLong Bay, the boat was ready to leave and to cruise to the rocks, while the excellent and sufficient food was served. We landed on a swimming ponton, where we could have the choice for kajaking by our own (always two people in one kajak) or in a rowing boat for four people, rowed by a man or woman. The impression of the rocks the tunnels and the land shape was fantastic. Returned from this excursion, the big boat cruised to a landing bridge, where we left the boat to visit a cave with different chambers. We left the cave on the opposite side of the rock and went by boat back to the starting point and went by bus back to Hanoi. The excursion is a must for tourists being in North Vietnam. The company, which organized the tour is a good choise.

Great trip, excellent guide, highlight of our the trip !

The best trip in our life .Relaxing and beautiful trip. The scenery is incredible and this particular tour went to more secluded areas so scenery was unspoiled. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful- rooms were comfortable and the food was great. Frank was our tour guide and a highlight of the trip!

Fantastic scenery of halong bay but horrible traffic

Basically we stucked in the traffic for more than 3 to 4 hours to and forth halong bay. The shuttle bus was full and very timid seat area, really feel uncomfortable sitting with long hour journey. Seeing the halong bay at the cruise was amazing, taking lots of beautiful pictures, food was ok but not so wow. At the floating village, the guide didn't even ask us whether our packages include kayak or not, he just direct us to the sampan, we paid extra for kayak not sampan. Kinda pissed off with the guide. Luckily the boat rower was kind and took many pictures for us, well at least we could relax and enjoyed the view. The guide was bit rushing towards the end of tour, especially in the tien long cave, kept asking everyone to walk faster without letting us stop to take pictures. Another traffic on our way home again, we reached home around 9pm plus... best to go for 2days 1night instead, not so rush.

Beautiful Natural landscape of perfume pagoda.A Must Do !

Our guide picked me up at the hotel door and off we went for the 2 hour journey to the Red River. Upon arrival at the river we then went in groups of five on a 1 hour cruise in a sampan up the Red River to the pagoda drop-off. Very serene and peaceful along this very clean section of the river. you can walk but it is quite steep towards the top which is about 30 minutes by foot.or buy extra ticket for cable car if you want . The second pagoda is actually a giant cave in the belly of the mountain (more steps) and worth seeing. There is also a great view of the escarpment and valley back to Hanoi from the cable car station. Lena , our Local guide was a delightful host for the day. Tips and Hints: - It will be hot so wear a hat, if you haven't got one buy one at the sampan departure location; they're dirt cheap - There is free wifi access (Hanoli Tourism) at the sampan departure location - Take the cable car it's more fun - There are plenty of places to buy water all along the

The destination made it worth the journey

We booked the tour with Lucky Hanoi tours to Hoa Lu and Tam Coc. The entire experience was low quality. The initial pick up was poorly managed: pickup location was stated as my hotel outside of the Old Quarter although the booking details specified pickup only from hotels inside the Old Quarter. I did not get any communication from the tour company until I called them 1 hour before pickup time to enquire about pickup. They sent a driver to my hotel who arrived 30 minutes late. We then waited another 15 minutes at the tour company office for another ride to meet the bus. Upon entering the bus, there was no confirmation that we were on the right bus. The bus picked up packages and passengers who were dropped along the way. Most of the time, the three "tour guides" spoke amongst themselves. When we left Hanoi city limits, one of the guides finally announced where the bus was traveling and the approximate times. At the destination, we had to rely on eavesdropping on groups.
