Take a full-day trip to Ninh Binh, a city in the Red River Delta of Vietnam, located 56 miles (90 kilometers) from Hanoi. While there, enjoy the natural tourist attractions such as the primitive rain forest, mountains, hills, and coastal and river deltas.
What to Expect
Spend a full day out of Hanoi in the Red River Delta area of Ninh Binh. This city is endowed with many places of particular interest which are known even outside of Vietnam. There are also many historical relics, making Ninh Binh a charming land of myth and unique landscapes. While there, you will have 3 different options to choose from, all of which include lunch.
Option 1: Hoa Lu – Tam Coc
Meet up with your driver and tour guide at your hotel for an 8:30 pick-up time. Transfer through the countryside to Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of Vietnam during the 10th century. On arrival, visit Dinh Tien Hoang and Le Dai Hanh dynastic temple. Have lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon board a small sampan for a spectacular 2-hour cruise through numerous waterways and beautiful rural landscape of limestone cliffs and rice paddies to the stunning Tam Coc caves. Transfer back to Hanoi in the late afternoon.
Option 2: Bai Dinh Temple – Trang An Complex
Meet up with your driver and tour guide at your hotel for an 8:30 pick-up time. Transfer to Ninh Binh, and visit the Bai Dinh Temple, a Spiritual and Cultural Complex in Bai Dinh Mountain. This complex consists of an old temple area and a new temple area, which was finished in 2010. Eat lunch in local restaurant. In the afternoon, you will visit Trang An Complex on rowing boat for 2 hours. The limestone features a lot of caves surrounded by a rich fauna and flora world. Transfer back to Hanoi in the late afternoon.
Option 3: Cuc Phuong National Park (L)
Meet up with your driver and tour guide at your hotel for a 7:00 pick-up time. Transfer to Cuc Phuong National Park, the home of many of Asia’s rarest species. Established in 1962, Cuc Phuong is the oldest national park in Vietnam. Arrive to Cuc Phuong at about 9:30 and go straight to the Park Headquarters, where you will stop to start the trek to the Thousand Year Tree. A loop of this trek last between 2 and 2.5 hours and is easy, with well-marked trails. Come back down and have lunch in the park’s restaurant. After that, you will visit the Primate Rescue Center, Turtles’ Centre, and Cave of Prehistoric Men before returning to Hanoi.
