What to Expect
Travel east of Hanoi to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay on a full-day cruise with stops for sightseeing, kayaking, and swimming.
As you make the 3-hour morning drive, you will pass fields of busy workers farming their rice fields using traditional methods of cultivation. Upon arrival, board your boat for a cruise around the bay and its many islands.
The first stop is Dong Thien Cung, the Heavenly Palace Grotto, located on a remote island. As the name suggests, this cave adorned with fantastic stalactites and stalagmites. Colored lights transform the scene into a fairytale-like palace.
Continue to the southern part of the bay to admire the many strange-shaped islands. Then stop at Titop Island, with its powdery white sand and crystal water, and enjoy kayaking or swimming. A steep path leads to a lookout and a small pentagon-shaped pagoda that offers a breathtaking view of the bay below.
After returning to Ha Long, begin your trip back to Hanoi, stopping at a ceramics village along the way. See artisans creating masterpieces and you can even purchase some at a discounted price. Afterward, continue to Hanoi.
