What to Expect
Your cultural tour begins with a drive to Bat Trang village, located around 15 kilometers east of Hanoi, and known for its fine ceramics. Take a walk down the small alleys of this old village to watch craftsmen at work and visit some of the houses used as workshops and showrooms.
Following your visit to Bat Trang, you’ll continue on to Dong Ho village, well known for its traditional folk paintings rendered in colors taken from nature. Spend time at an artist’s house to learn about the creative process.
Stop for lunch before visiting But Thap, one of the oldest pagodas in Vietnam and the country’s first Buddhist center. This pagoda is known for its traditional woodcarvings and sculptures, especially the statue of Buddha with a thousand hands and a thousand eyes.
During the tour there will be opportunities to make your own handicrafts, time permitting. Let your guide know if you’re interested in doing this.
