Full description
Depart from Hanoi on a 15-kilometer drive east to Bat Trang, a village famous for its fine ceramics. Stroll around the small alleys of this old village stopping to watch the local people crafting their products. Visit some of the houses used as workshops and showrooms, marveling at the selection of ceramic items rich in variety and style.
Following Bat Trang, continue the day on to Dong Ho, a village famous for its traditional folk paintings. See paintings printed by hand using an ancient technique and materials that come naturally from the local plant life. Spend time in an artist’s house and learn about the creative process.
Enjoy a break for lunch before visiting But Thap, one of the oldest pagodas in Vietnam known as Vietnam's first Buddhist center and famous for its stunning woodcarvings and sculptures. See the valuable objects considered to be masterpieces of 17th-century woodcarving, especially the statue of Tay Thien Dong and the statue of Buddha with a thousand hands and a thousand eyes. Relax on the return journey to Hanoi.
