Just 90 kilometers from Hanoi, Tam Dao was created at the beginning of the 20th century by the French as a holiday resort for the wealthy. Located northwest of Hanoi at an elevation of almost 1200 meters, it is surrounded by sheer cliffs and the jungle.
What to Expect
Tam Dao is a popular destination for day-trippers wishing to escape the heat and stresses of Hanoi. Nestled high in the mountains and surrounded by sheer cliffs and the jungle, experience the town in the beauty of its fog. Leave Hanoi at around 8:30am for a 2-hour journey along Highway 23. Once you turn off the highway, the road becomes narrow and winding as you drive up the mountains.
Spend the day at Tam Dao sunbathing by the swimming pool, hiking to Silver Waterfall, 45 meters tall, and visiting a temple dedicated to the Goddess of the Jungle. Enjoy your day at this scenic location before heading back to Hanoi.
