What to Expect
The Perfume Pagoda is one of the highlights of the Hanoi area and one of the most important religious sites for Buddhists in Vietnam. The Pagoda itself is situated on a huge cave built into limestone cliffs and can only be reached by boat as there are no roads. You will glide along scenic waterways and walk up steep mountain paths, visiting the pagodas and temples built in this area over the centuries.
8:00 - 8:30am: Your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter. Then, you will embark on a 1.5-hour road trip. You will then take an hour rowboat trip to Yen and to Thien Tru Harbor. Continue on to enjoy some leisure time to go trekking up and down the main cave. Arrive at Huong Tich cave on top of the mountain and soak up the unique atmosphere. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant at the bottom of the mountain.
After lunch, you will see Thien Tru Pagoa (the Heaven Kitchen pagoda) and learn more about ancient Buddhist architecture from the Le dynasty. Then, you will come back by rowboat and embark on a 2-hour trip to Hanoi and arrive at your hotel around 6:00pm.
