Day 1: Hanoi – Cuc Phuong National Park
After the pick-up at your hotel at 7:00, you’ll drive 100 kilometers by minivan to Ninh Binh. After a 3.5-hour drive you arrive at Cuc Phuong National Park. Here you first visit the Primate Rescue Center to learn more about many different endangered species. Enjoy lunch before trekking on loop trails with some small rock slopes inside the national park, and look out for amphibians, insects, and reptiles. You then return to Mac Lake to check in to the bungalows and enjoy dinner. Afterwards, you drive to Bong Center for the night tour, where you’ll search the forest for numerous nocturnal creatures including civets, owls, flying squirrels, lorises, bats, and small cats. Stay overnight at the bungalows in the park.
Day 2: Cuc Phuong – Van Long – Hanoi
Have breakfast at a restaurant near the bungalows in the morning. Enjoy some free time to walk around the area before driving to the Botanical Gardens, home to the oldest forest in Vietnam. You then transfer to Van Long Nature Reserve, where you take a local rowboat trip along a small stream, passing by rice paddies and through limestone caves. Take a rest and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant near Van Long pier before returning to Hanoi around 17:30.
