Get to know the traditions and rituals of the different peoples of Vietnam on this 3-day trip from Hanoi.
Stop off at colorful markets, sample local delicacies, and meet minority tribes. Visit the Tay ethnic people and enjoy lunch at the home of a welcoming family. Take a boat trip along the meandering Chay river, taking in the sheer rock mountains, houses on stilts, and tumbling waterfalls surrounding you.
The tour is led by a professional and friendly guide who will be able to show you the well-known and not so well known areas of Sapa. With all the details such as accommodation, transportation, and food already organized for you, you can relax and enjoy the tour.
A taxi will take you to Hanoi railway station to catch the 21:15 night train to Lao Cai. Sleep in a 4-bed air-conditioned cabin.
Day 1 (B, L, D)
Begin the day in Lao Cai with a visit to the bustling market of Bacha. This is the most colorful market in North Vietnam. Sample rice wines, seasonal fruits, and simple delicacies. Leave the market for the H’mong King’s house, built by the French colonists and the Chinese in 1920.
Return to town for lunch. In the afternoon, spend time visiting another village (Ban Pho village) On the way to Sapa, stop by to see the Vietnamese and Chinese Harbor Mouth in Lao Cai. Reach Sapa late in the afternoon. Stay overnight in a 3-star hotel.
Day 2 (B, L, D)
Drive to Supan Village and visit the Tay ethnic people. See the houses on stilts, and enjoy lunch with a local family. Drive back to Sapa and stay overnight in the hotel.
Day 3 (B, L, D)
Leave Sapa early at 07:00, heading for Coc Ly Market. Experience the ways of life of 6 different minorities, (Flower H’mong, Black Dzao, Tay, Dzay, Ha Nhi and Nung).
Board a boat along the Chay river. Take in the surrounding high rock mountains and tumbling waterfalls. See the Fairy Cave, located deep in the rocks. Get off the boat to visit a village of the Tay Minority (Trung Do village) by the river. After the boat trip, visit a small town called Bao Nhai.
Afterwards take a jeep back to Lao Cai station, eat dinner, and then board the overnight train to Hanoi. The train arrives in Hanoi at approximately 04:30.
