Experience the lifestyle of ethnic minorities living in and around the Mai Chau Valley in northern Vietnam. Enjoy walks and bicycle rides through stunning landscapes, visit traditional minority villages, and spend the night in a stilt house.
Day 1: Mai Chau Valley – Lac Village; Thai and Muong Ethnics (Lunch, Dinner)
You’ll be picked up at your accommodation in Hanoi and depart for Mai Chau, located in Hoa Binh Province approximately 135 kilometers from Hanoi. Pass Cun Slope through Cao Phong District en route to the Mai Chau Valley. From the top of Cun Mountain, you can admire the panoramic view of Mai Chau’s green valley and stilt houses. Mai Chau is the home to many ethnic minorities, including the White Thai ethnic group.
Enjoy a traditional lunch and if you’re game, try a bit of the country’s finest rice wine with a local family. Afterwards you’ll enjoy a bicycle trip around the village to see farmers working in the fields and the locals weaving scarves. You’ll also visit other tranquil villages and experience the rustic life of these mountain people.
Enjoy dinner with a local family and a drink of traditional alcohol known as ruou can. You’ll be entertained by artistic performances of the ethnic Thai and Muong, who reside in the mountains of Mai Chau. Overnight in a stilt house in Ban Lac.
Day 2: Poom Cong Village – Trieu Cave – Hanoi (Breakfast, Lunch)
The early morning is the most peaceful time to walk around the village and see the sun rising over the spectacular mountains. Following breakfast at Lac Village, you’ll walk for around 7 kilometers to Poom Cong village, and the Trieu Cave. Enjoy panoramic views of Mai Chau Valley and stop for lunch and some time to relax before heading back to Hanoi.

Cancelations made before 15:00 on the day prior to departure incur a charge of 50 per cent of the tour cost. After that time and for no-shows, the charge is 100 per cent of the tour cost.
