Salzburg: Salt Mine Entrance Ticket

2. Salzburg: Salt Mine Entrance Ticket

Journey into the mountain is a journey through time – to be more precise, through 2600 years of salt mining on the Dürrnberg. Outfitted in white miners’ overalls, you will set out in search of white gold – through four entire epochs of human history: Your path begins with modern mining and salt production as it is done today. It then leads through the murky Middle Ages and ultimately ends with the Celtic miners of the Iron Age. A raft ride across a mystical salt lake enthralls you amid the iridescent world of Baroque Salzburg. At the end of your journey, you will have a true grasp of why salt is indeed regarded as the essence of life. And we shouldn’t forget to mention: During your tour, you will cross the subterranean border between Austria and Germany, ride on a mine train, and slither down two miners’ slides deeper and deeper into the mountain. A grand adventure indeed! Visit the salt manufactory on the Celtic Mountain, you have the unique opportunity to watch an extraordinary salt being created. Bad Ischler Salzzart is extraordinary for several reasons: Here, in Austria’s only showcase saltworks and under the keen eye of a master salt-maker, the natural brine of the Dürrnberg gives birth to pyramid-shaped salt crystals. Look over this craftsman’s shoulder as he skillfully goes about his work.

Private Hallstatt Tour

3. Private Hallstatt Tour

This tour will take you to some places where the Celtics used to live, worked and had mystically places. We will drive with you to the village of Hallstatt, where you have the possibility to visit the salt mines (only visible between April and November) and some other Celtic spots in the area. Then you will drive with you on the way back by the mystically water fall of Golling where already the Celtics had a mystically place and we can also visit the Canyon of the hammer river which the Celtics used as a holy place.  Between the end of November and the beginning of April you can visit the salt mines of Hallein, the waterfalls and then see the city of Hallstatt and the lake district area.

Was very fun: informative short films, great guides, 2-minute ride into the mine on a log train, 80-meter long boat ride with light show, two slides (one measures your speed on the way down), possibility to buy photos of yourself before going on the tour and going down the slide, you can try brine, souvenir and salt shop

If I had known beforehand, I would have gotten the tickets on site as there was no guide present and the tickets would have been cheaper.

Very interesting. The guide was very gently and understandable. I would tottaly recommend it to someone that is near the mines!

Very nice, competent bus driver with lots of additional information. Nice accompaniment from the organizer

Comfortable buses and seen a lot. Also the other side of Salzburg. We recommend
