From Antigua: Pacaya Volcano Trek

From Antigua: Pacaya Volcano Trek

Walk for 2 hours to the summit of Pacaya Volcano and enjoy stunning views. Leave from Antigua for a 1-hour bus journey to the volcano's base before immediately starting your 2-hour trek with your local guide. Hike through wonderful pine forests up to the trickier volcanic ash section and finally to the sulfur smoking cone. On occasion, you can even see small eruptions and lava flowing, depending on the activity of the volcano. From the summit, you can enjoy great views of the nearby volcanoes, Agua, Fuego, and Acatenango, the pacific lowlands, and all the way to El Salvador. To ensure your safety you won’t be able to visit the crater, but you will get an amazing view of red-hot lava flowing and steam baths created by the heat of Pacaya. Take a break and relax here as you take in more scenic views before hiking back to the base of the volcano, from where you will transfer back to your accommodation.

Our guide Marvin was attentive and friendly. It is an activity that requires a very good physical condition and experience in trekking, so it is good that people do their research before going to know if they have the physical level to do it, otherwise it will delay the group. Although it is required to carry water, you could also buy something along the way so as not to carry 3L of water from the beginning to lighten the load somewhat. It is a unique experience and you should be open-minded given that it is highly physically demanding. The experience was good and they fulfilled what was agreed

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Felix and the tour with the Chicken Bus. Felix was knowledgeable and had lots of interesting information to share on these little towns outside of Antigua. We felt that we saw more local spots that would normally be missed or skipped. Several of the stops are places to either buy textiles or jade. Overall Felix made the tour as special as it was. He was kind, funny, engaging, and kept everything moving at a relaxed but progressive pace. Highly recommend the tour and Felix as your guide.

Incredible experience, not an easy climb, but the guides were incredible and very knowledgeable and super kind. I was so surprised by how enjoyable the whole experience was.

Loi is the best guide, and he is very good at both English and explaining. 10/10 would reccomend

I loved our tour guide he is very knowledgeable I truly appreciate and recommend him
