Full description

Start your tour in the Beertopia Room which houses our very own Monteith's Museum. Get an introduction to the heritage and rich stories of the origins of Monteith's, starting in 1868 on the West Coast. Move into the brewery to see, touch, taste (if you're up for it) and smell New Zealand grown ingredients used to make craft beer. Take your time to walk through the brewhouse and packaging house as your expert guide talks you through the process involved with crafting the 150-year-old beer recipes. Receive video, visual and verbal prompts throughout the tour to help you to understand the various techniques and technical terms our brewers are so familiar with. End the tour with a lesson on how to achieve the 'perfect pour'. For those over 18, pour yourself your very own tap beer, taste and enjoy.

Kate was our very friendly & knowledgeable guide on our Monteiths Brewery tour in Greymouth. It was a fascinating Tour covering the processes of beer brewing & the history of Monteiths right up to present day. Just a pity that brewing no longer takes place in Greymouth.

We had a great time on this tour. You received the equivalent of a schooner of beer in the tasting and then a complimentary 6 pack. If you bought a schooner from a bar and a 6 pack of stubbies from a liquor outlet you would pay as much as we did for this tour. Looking at it this way the tour of the brewery itself without the beer essentially did not cost anything at all and for that we received an informative and enjoyable tour that I would highly recommend.

The tour was excellent! Billy was very informative and passionate about making the tour relaxed and fun. Monteith’s beer is excellent! We tried the Pilsner, the gold lager, the hazy, and the apple cider - all delicious! We ate dinner afterward at the Monteith's restaurant. Food was scrumptious! My husband had the fish & chips, and I had the lamb burger. The only disappointment was that the brewery is no longer in operation - it was more of a brewery museum. Still very interesting and worth the money - included a coupon for a six pack of beer to take away.
