you can walk from Granada Centro to the Alhambra (up the slope) or take a C30 bus or taxi. The walk back to Centro after is a better idea. This tour was taken in the last few days of winter but weather was fine and a reasonable temperature made the experience pleasant as we wandered the grounds. Experiencing the Moorish summer palace firstly put the tour in a chronological perspective as later in the fortress a number of buildings were Moorish in origin but then altered significantly to become Christian in form and function. The internal detail of Islamic designs in the unaltered palaces compared favourably to the external architectural efforts on the Christian churches etc. The guide was competent and used the audioguide system effectively to keep our largish group together. Worth the fee. Clearly the most promoted activity in Granada but i enjoyed the Centro, the Albaicin and the Realejo as well - nice tapas venues.
I really enjoyed the tour. It's a little confusing where the meeting point is but it's outside the ticket office. Just ask around until you find your guide/group. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The tour was 3 hours but not exhausting at all. there is a 15 minute break in the middle if you need to eat or buy souvenirs. Only bring small backpacks. You get an headphone system so you can hear the guide even if you are not physically close. The AlHambra is a must-see historical site in Granada
If you have a limited time in Granada this tour of the Alhambra and Generalife is the best thing you can do. Our guide gave us so much information about the history of this Palace and gardens. Time was made available for a snack and drink break (this is not provided by the tour). After our tour we were able to look and walk around the Alhambra and gardens at our own pace. Our family group all thought the tour worthwhile.
Was lucky enough to be the only one, so got myself a private tour...and it was absolutely MAGNIFICENT. Manuel had the tour very well thought and he showed me so many things I would've surely missed, if I had been there by myself. I recommend you all to get guided tours to Alhambra, otherwise you would only see beautiful sceneries, without the background story. And I definitely recommend Manuel to be your guide!
The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and spoke perfect English, she was very helpful and approachable when asked questions. The tour was timed just about right for us and covered everything we wanted to see with time to go back into the Palace on our own after the tour.
