This half-day tour covers some of Glasgow best known landmarks, Glasgow Cathedral, the Old Town of Glasgow and the cities best museums and collections.
What to Expect
Depart George Street Glasgow at 09.00 and travel the short distance from the city center to Glasgow Cathedral dating back to the 1100’s it’s one of the oldest surviving buildings in the city. Just a short distance away is Provan’s Lordship Glasgow’s oldest private home which remains open to this day as a museum.

You then travel south into the heart of Old Glasgow where you pass the Tolbooth Steeple Clock Tower at Glasgow Cross and across the River Clyde, the very lifeblood and main artery of this great city. You head into Pollok Country Park, the largest park in the city and home to Pollok House and the Burrell Collection. Pollok House is the ancestral home of the Maxwell and Jardine families and sometimes called Scotland’s answer to Downton Abbey. You also have the option to visit the Burrell Collection which houses the eclectic collection of shipping magnate William Burrell who gifted his collection to the city in 1944. The collection is housed in an award winning museum and displays works of art from Rodin, Degas and Cézanne as well as over 8000 other works of art and artifact’s collected in a lifetime by William Burrell.

You then make your way back to the city center crossing the River Clyde once again you travel through some of Glasgow’s sparkling new developments that have regenerated the river and the city itself. From here you make your way through Glasgow’s West End and University area. This lively young part of the city is home to many students and some of the city’s finest bars and restaurants. Stop briefly to admire another of Glasgow’s magnificent museums, the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, where you have the option to leave the tour, view the galleries and make your own way back to the city center. If you decide to remain with the tour, it continues back to George Street completing the loop of the city at 13.00.
