Travel to Tangier by ferry from the Costa del Sol on a small group tour. Spend a day exploring the exotic kasbah and enjoy an authentic Moroccan lunch. Marvel at the architecture of the old city and wander through the colorful stalls of the bazaar.
What to Expect
After a pick-up at your chosen meeting point on the Costa del Sol, you’ll begin your coach journey to Tarifa. Board the fast ferry for a cruise across the Strait of Gibraltar. This is an extended full-day tour, with a duration of approximately 13 hours.
Once you arrive in Tangier, you’ll begin a walking tour around the souk, where you’ll find a wide range of Mediterranean fruits and vegetables, spices, dried fruits, and more. Continue on to the jewelers’ street and hear about the Moroccan wedding ritual.
Explore the medina (old town) and the kasbah (old fortress) and admire the stunning architecture. Take a break to see the snake charmers and to taste some fresh bread at one of the popular local bakeries. Afterwards, you’ll enjoy a traditional lunch at a typical Moroccan restaurant.
Your guide will lead you to the bazaar, where you’ll learn about the different types of carpets as well as local handicrafts. After visiting the bazaar, your group will enjoy a sightseeing tour by bus along the seafront promenade and Avenue Mohamed V, and see the Severo Ochoa Institute, the Portuguese, American, Italian, and Spanish quarters, and the Royal Palace.
On the way to the Atlantic coast you’ll visit the Punico Roman Necropolis, with tombs dating back to the Roman times. Take in the best views of the Strait of Gibraltar from this point.
After a short stop at Cape Spartel where the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea meet, you’ll enjoy a traditional mint tea and learn about mint tea rituals. Take photos and an optional camel ride at an Atlantic dune before returning to the port, driving through the city’s most glamorous neighborhood.
During the winter season (November-May) the tour itinerary changes due to ferry timetables and natural light conditions.
