What People Are Saying About Genoa
We were lucky to be the only 2 clients on this tour. We asked at the start if there were any areas in the old city still reflecting Jewish heritage, but as far as our guide knew there were none. I recommend our guide checks Wikopedia, Italy as there is reference to some specific sites of Jewish interest in Genova
Marco met us at our hotel. We immediately started in the old Genoa area, walking through a labyrinth of alleyways (most of which we would not have walked up on our own) and streets. There were surprises at every turn and Marco's knowledge was amazing. We visited some amazing churches with unbelievably beautiful interiors which most people would not find on their own. Marco also timed the tour so that we were at an elevated position to get an amazing view over Genoa as the sun was setting. After an icecream break, the tour continued with more fantastic sights of Genoa. The evening finished off with a visit to a small eatery where we sat down to enjoy an aperitif with focaccia and quite a few side dishes (all inclusive). Marco then walked us back to our hotel. The pace of the tour was leisurely and lasted about four hours. Thank you Marco for showing us a Genoa we would never have seen without you.
Excellent familiarization tour, didn't like it being for both Italian and English. Also, make it a professional tour and give guides a microphone and provide earpieces so people can hear what's being said. The value of the tour is easily worth another $5 to $10.
We had Anna as our (group of 16) tour guide, and she was fabulous. The tour was both in English and Italian, but knowing a bit of Italian I know she told the same in both languages, and just as enthusiastically. Definitely a recommendation for starting one's visit to Genoa ..... and ask if you do get Anna as your guide, you will be even more fortunate.
Perfect tour and excellent guide, this tour will provide full information about the city' history in details (the tour about 1.5 hour) plus free time to visit 2 different museums at the end of the tour - tickets included. Our tour start at 10 am which was very good timing as our cruise arrived the port at 08 am, also the meeting point was short distance from the port (approx. one km) or about 20 min walk - maybe less if you don't have children with you! we had one child 5 years and one infant 10 month. After the tour we had free time to walk between the beautiful streets & had coffee, please note that our tour was on Sunday, so most of the shops was closed, also another options to do after the tour, to take the big bus & continue discovering the city if you cannot walk anymore or visit the aquarium which located in same meeting point (tourist info office). city is very clean, helpful people, easy to reach to the port by walk from anywhere, and easy to manage with children!
