  • Eagle's Nest Tour from Munich: Groups of 4 or More

    1. Eagle's Nest Tour from Munich: Groups of 4 or More

This full-day tour from Munich takes you to Hitler’s mountain retreat, located in the mountains above Berchtesgaden. Presented to him in 1939 as a 50th birthday present, the mountain chalet took 13 months to complete, and includes an elevator that was bored through a tunnel in the rocks to reach the entrance. You will depart from Munich and drive along some of the most scenic roads in the German Alps. On arrival, a special bus will take you up to the Eagle´s Nest entrance area, where you will ride the elevator to the mountain peak, and into Eagle´s Nest itself. Look at beautiful views over the Alps, with free time on your own to explore. The lower rooms can be visited with an English-speaking guide, and offer views of the building's past through plate-glass windows. Graffiti left by Allied troops is clearly visible in the surrounding woodwork. A large fireplace in the restaurant shows...

A wonderful tour! Our guide, Mario, could not have been better! Highly recommended.

  • From Salzburg: Eagle's Nest Mountain Retreat Tour

    2. From Salzburg: Eagle's Nest Mountain Retreat Tour

The Eagle's Nest, or Kehlsteinhaus, is a retreat nestled high in the Kehlstein Mountains. It was originally given to Adolf Hitler as a 50th birthday gift, and offers historical insight as well as beautiful views. This tour will take you up into the mountains and over the German border into Bavaria, passing by the salt mines. The first stop of the tour is in the Obersalzberg area, where you'll change buses to head to the Eagle's Nest high in the Kehlstein Mountains. Hitler held many meetings in the Eagle's Nest, which he used as a conference center. You'll have free time to explore the old conference room, dining area, and small tea room with terraces. Your guide will explain the history and stories of this interesting retreat during your visit. After leaving the Eagle's Nest, your tour will return to Salzburg.

Good but a long trip to only stay for 35 minutes..information was good but you can take a local Salzburg bus to allow for more time there

Climb aboard a golden brass elevator to ascend another 124 meters into the building itself. Your private guide will take you on a tour of the building and show you sights such as the room with the famous fireplace. Get lots of inside information and anecdotes about Hitler’s legendary tea house. Soak up the panoramic views of the Bavarian and Austrian Alps. Before your return to Salzburg, take the opportunity to explore the picturesque town of Berchtesgaden.

Could not have been better!

From the first moment when we were picked up at our hotel at 08:45 sharp, we felt that this is going to be a good day. The trip was operated by and with Armin as our guide we did not have a dull moment the whole day. With perfect logistics and clear and useful information from Armin, we were guided through all the attractions in a very smooth and efficient way. The weather was shifting that day with low clouds and showers, but fortunately when went to the top it was all clear and we could enjoy the fantastic view from this magnificent place. Armin also took us to a restaurant for lunch which would never have found if travelling by ourselves. - and what a nice place with great food, genuine Bavarian Alp atmosphere and fantastic view! I highly recommend this trip!

Our guide Benny went above and beyond our expectations. He even bought our 7 year old birthday cake. Couldn’t have asked for anyone better

Arman provided information and insights the whole day a was a safe and competent driver. It was a fabulous tour!

Magnificent Views

The Eagles nest rooms itself were disappointing but it's well worth a visit just for the views.
