My friend and I wanted to visit a vineyard whilst we were in Rome. This tour looked like it would be the best option as it offered this experience along with the wine tasting rather than just walking around town trying different wines. All the wines we had came from this little vineyard. The tour guide was excellent and funny, he offered lots of stories as we toured the town that we wouldn’t have even known about without booking this. All the wines we got to try were lovely (even though I don’t usually like red wine) and there was complimentary breads to go with them. We had a tour of the vineyard and wine cellar and afterwards we were guided to a local restaurant where we got to enjoy a light four course meal with more wine! All the food was delicious and the wine too - we ended up buying two bottles from the vineyard. This was our favourite excursion whilst in Rome. Getting the train from Rome Termini and back again was very cheap and easy too! Can’t say enough how great this was.
we were at the train station with everyone else on the tour. Paola our guide was at the lower level but we went straight up to street level. The email we were sent just said the meeting spot was at the train station. It did not indicate which level or who our guide was. We met another guide who was doing the exact tour at the exact time (Dominic I think). He checked for our names on his list. Of course we weren’t there. He did not indicate to us that there was another group. We waited at street level until 10:50am. Paola’s group must have left from that lower level. As a result we missed the first hour of the tour.
Everything was smooth, from the pick-up at the hotel until return. We got very nice explanation about grapes, olives and production and saw really nice scenery. The wine tasting was 2 white and 1 red wine which we really enjoyed together with small finger foods. We also got more insight to how to fully enjoy the aroma and the wine. All in all a fantastic experience that I would highly recommend!
Paola our guide and a Paola at the winery were excellent hosts. We very much enjoyed the food and seeing a small family owned vineyard. Also, we actually took an earlier train than what was recommended and had the typical breakfast, coffee and a pastry, while looking out at the country. Once we joined the group, it was nothing but fun because as expected, by the end, many of us were tipsy!
Easy to figure out, train was simple, upon arrival Max met us at the landing and brought us through a unique tour of the town with lots of laughs and info. Food/vineyard/WINE were all great. There are a decent amount of steps/hills/walking so if you’re out of shape just prepare for this as we saw some that struggled. Would definitely recommend!
