What to Expect
Discover masterpieces of art by Fra Angelico, Fra’ Bartolomeo and other artists on a 2-hour skip-the-line tour of the San Marco Museum in Florence.

Enter the historic Dominican convent, designed by one of the greatest architects of the Renaissance, Michelozzo di Bartolomeo Michelozzi. Commissioned by Cosimo I de 'Medici, the convent is still occupied by Dominican monks and is one of the most distinguished examples of 15th-century Florentine architecture.

Start in the peaceful Cloister of St. Anthony, passing the frescoed lunettes en route to ancient halls of wood work and a cycle of paintings by the Dominican monk, Beato Angelico, one of the greatest exponents of the Florentine Renaissance.

Continue to the Great Refectory and old kitchen to discover paintings by Fra’ Bartolomeo, a Dominican monk who lived in the convent in the early '500s. See a magnificent fresco of the “Last Supper” by Domenico Ghirlandaio in the Small Refectory.

Then, go upstairs to the monks' cells, where you will find some incomparable frescoes that Beato Angelico painted for his confreres’ monks. Look at the unadorned cell of friar Girolamo Savonarola, and learn how he preached against the moral decay of the clergy, ending his life hanged and burned at the stake in Piazza della Signoria.

End in Michelozzo’s magnificent Library, famous for the incomparable purity of its Renaissance architecture.
