What You'll Do
  • Experience daily life under the Renaissance on an immersive walking tour of Florence
  • Learn about the most celebrated era in Florentine history
Overview
Enjoy a private walk of Florence that illustrates daily Florentine life during the Renaissance. The most celebrated period in the city’s history, your private guide will create a narrative that brings the cradle of the Renaissance to life.
What to Expect
See graceful paintings, discover daunting family legacies, witness moving literary tomes and explore the stunning architectural advancements that originated during the Renaissance at its very heart in the beautiful city of Florence.

The focus of the 3-hour private tour is the life of the Florentines themselves. Enjoy a comprehensive narrative about their rich social history with a guide who will talk in-depth about creativity, religion, politics and private and public life.

Start at the medieval church of Orsanmichele. The former grain market represents the importance of the trade guilds that decorated the structure with ornate sculptures by some of the era's most significant artists. It is integral to understanding the economic and commercial atmosphere of the time.

Continue to the recently restored Palazzo Davanzati, an intact noble family's residence, where you will find a remarkably accurate portrayal of the intimate domestic life of the Medieval and Renaissance Florentines.

Wind your way through narrow alleys, largely untouched since Renaissance times. The tour visits one of the 15th-Century churches where altarpieces and frescoes tell tales about life in the city during its most fertile and creative period.

Art, architecture, interior furnishings, consumer goods and clothing will all be discussed at length. Creating as complete a visual narrative as possible you will gain an expert inside knowledge to help better understand the roots of the city’s still bustling contemporary society.
