Visit a local organic farm in Montalcino and taste fabulous Brunello wines followed by a full Tuscan lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll have time to relax and enjoy the hot springs at Bagno Vignoni, which were popular with Romans over 2,000 years ago.
What to Expect
Your full-day (9-hour) tour begins with a drive along one of the most beautiful and ancient roads of Tuscany, passing the city of Siena and its enchanting hills. The first stop is the historic village of Montalcino, where you’ll have a guided tour and wine tasting at a Brunello producer.
Visit the cellars and learn about the origin and production of this world-renowned wine. You’ll have the opportunity to taste the wine straight from the barrel, and during your typical Tuscan lunch you’ll be served DOCG Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino DOC. You’ll also tour the vineyards and hear about viticulture and production from the winemaker.
In the afternoon, you’ll head to Bagno Vignoni, where the thermal baths have been in use since the Roman era. Bagno Vignoni’s baths were frequented by famous historical figures including Pope Pio II, Catherine of Siena, Lorenzo de ‘Medici and many artists.
On the way back to Florence you’ll stop to visit another wine producer, where you can taste organic wines.
