What to Expect
Learn the story of the powerful Medici family in Florence on a 1.5-hour guided tour of the Palazzo Vecchio and battlements. Add on an aperitif or optional dinner to complete your experience!
Standing majestically over the Florence skyline, the Palazzo Vecchio is one of the most recognized symbols of the city. Built during the Middle Ages, it still preserves the austere architecture of the 14th century, and provides the highest viewpoint in the city after Brunelleschi’s Dome.
Enter the elegant courtyard by Michelozzo, and admire the beautiful “Hall of the 500.” See and intimate study of Francesco I de’ Medici, the private apartments of Eleonora of Toledo and Cosimo I de’ Medici, and the sumptuous boardrooms with their stunning frescoes, paintings, and statues of the greatest Renaissance artists, such as Michelangelo, Donatello, Verrocchio, Vasari, Ghirlandaio, and Bronzino.
Then, follow your guide to the top of the building, and stroll along the ancient battlemented patrol path. See the city from above as the sun sets over its domes and terracotta tiles. If you are feeling adventurous, climb to the top of Arnolfo’s Tower for a stunning “aerial view” of the city and its surrounding hills.
