Discover one of the most dramatic landscapes of the Ligurian Coast on a 12-hour tour of Cinque Terre from Florence or Siena. Travel along 5 miles of rocky coast on 2 promontories to visit small towns of characterful houses nestled among cliffs and creeks.
What to Expect
Spend the day exploring the unforgettable Ligurian Coast of Cinque Terre, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997 for its cultural and scenic values. Discover a place where the earth and sea fuse to create a unique landscape.
Following a pick-up from your accommodation in Florence or Siena, transfer across the Tuscan hills for Liguria. Upon arrival on the Italian Riviera, marvel at an 11-mile (18-kilometer) stretch of beaches, coves and cliff paths.
Start your Cinque Terre tour in the tiny village of Manarola, built in the Genoese case torri (fortress) style. Continue to Vernazza, overlooked by the ruins of a castle and a cylindrical tower from the 11th century.
Stroll through the 13th-century village of Riomaggiore, the most southerly of the Cinque Terre, especially noted for its wine and walking paths. Go to Corniglia, the only Cinque Terre village not connected to the sea. Marvel at the scenic views from its cliff-top setting. Finally, go to the “Pearl of Cinque Terre,” the stunning village of Monterosso, an ancient fishing village with beautiful beaches and rich vegetation on its rock face.
Sit down to a delicious 3-course fish lunch in a cliff-side restaurant with a beautiful view of the bay. Seal your Cinque Terre experience with a tasting of the sweet limoncino liquor in a wine shop in the town center. Then, unwind for the rest of the afternoon, swimming in the sea, or exploring the town at leisure.
