What You'll Do
  • See some of Portugal's most beautiful countryside
  • Learn all about the local plantlife and geography
Enjoy a guided walk through the Algarve countryside, with woodlands rich in oak, carob and almond trees, and fields full of colourful flowers, orchids and aromatic plants.
What to Expect
Take a break from urban scenery and get back in touch with nature with this guided walk through Algarve's beautiful countryside.

This tour starts in the small village of Mesquita close to the area of São Brás. The circular walk leads through a limestone region rich in orchids, where ancient and handmade stone walls surround the area.

You will pass through very old woodlands, rich in carob and olive trees and discover wells and springs from the Moorish period. After walking through lush meadows littered with yellow Bermuda Buttercups and red poppies, you'll make your way through the valley and back to Mesquita.

During the tour you will learn all about the local fauna and regional geography from highly knowledgeable guides. And don't worry if you're not the world's greatest walker, as this tour accommodates any level of fitness.

What to Remember
- Bring appropriate footwear. For your comfort and security, and in recognition of the fact that paths in places may be stony or wet, it is essential that you have appropriate footwear. Either strong walking shoes or boots which give ankle support and have soles with a good grip (boots are obviously the better option, plimsolls are definitely not!).
- Walking poles, if you have them, take the strain off the joints and are handy, if not essential.
- A light waterproof coat and comfortable clothing are also advisable.
- A rucksack or backpack is recommended to carry enough water, a packed lunch or snack, a hat and good sun cream. Binoculars or a camera are an extremely good idea, and plenty to drink would be helpful to avoid dehydration.
- Walks may be amended due to weather conditions or travellers’ fitness, should your walking guides deem this advisable.
