Wander through Holm oak forest, marvel at the castle of Évoramonte, and enjoy a wine tasting near Évora. Led by an expert guide, you will experience some of the well-known and not so well known attractions of Évora. Each route is of an easy difficulty level, this is not so much a test of fitness, but more a relaxing wander through paradisiacal landscapes.
Day 1 (D)
Arrive in Lisbon.
Day 2 (B, L, D)
From the guesthouse you will set off to walk along the aqueduct. This was built in the 16th century to solve water shortages in the city. Enjoy the picturesque scenery and small farms and discover aromatic herbs. This is an easy route with a distance of between 12 and 20 kilometers. Relax at the end of the day with a drink in the city.
Day 3 (B, L, D)
Wander through Holm oak forest where as far back as 6000 years ago, the impressive granite boulders were used by our ancestors to build burial sites. Visit the Dolmen of Zambujeirom the biggest church in Europe. You will also see the Cromelech of Almendres, the Menir of Almendres and the church of Mitra. This is an easy route of around 15 kilometers.
Day 4 (B, L, D)
If you are staying only for 3 nights then today you will make your return trip to Lisbon airport. Otherwise, if you are staying for 7 nights, you will make an excursion to Évora. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tickle your taste buds with a wine tasting at a beautiful little farm.
Day 5 (B, L, D)
Today you will walk a route following the River Degebe. At the end of the track encounter the surreal castle of Valongo. Return along a meandering path through vines, cattle fields, and the lovely water mill of Alcaide. The route is around 17 kilometers.
Day 6 (B, L, D)
Follow the winding cobbled tracks that lead to the majestic castle of Évoramonte. Here you can take the castle walls walk taking in the impressive panoramic views. On a clear day you can see Spain! This easy level walk is around 15 kilometers.
Day 7 (B, L, D)
We will walk around the gorgeous village of Monsaraz which is built within a castle complex atop a hill. Enjoy the schist rocks walls and the stunning view over the Alqueva Lake. In warm weather take a swim or a canoe trip. En-route back to the farmhouse stop off at a pottery in São Pedro do Corval. This easy route is around 15 kilometers in length.
Day 8 (B)
Make a return trip to Lisbon Airport or your next destination.
