We took a 1/2 day tour to two wineries; both small production, with an excellent selection of exquisite wines. At the second winery we were treated to a delicious lunch of chicken paprikash. Both of our winery hosts were warm and welcoming. We learned much from them about the wines, the process for making them, the history of the area, and even the traditions of Hungarian food. Our guide, Michael, was superb; friendly, knowledgeable about all things Hungarian, and very engaging.
The wine tour was interesting. Lunch was excellent..an absolute adventure for the tastebuds! The microphone was not working well, so we couldn’t hear the commentary from the back of the van. There was little that the guide could do, because she was doing the driving herself, so couldn’t really concentrate simultaneously on talking too.
Pick up and drop off was efficient and easy. Great introduction to local wines. Included lunch very tasty and better than some I have experienced in Budapest restaurants. Our guide provided an outline of relevant history, which we found very interesting. Good opportunity to see the countryside outside of Budapest.
Very friendly guide and winemakers. We really enjoyed the tour with the 2 wineries and bought some bottles too. We had the chance to visit the countryside and learn about the wine making history of the region and Hungary. We also met travellers from other countries. The lunch at the second winery was fantastic!
I truly enjoyed this activity. I was grateful that it was available Christmas Day as I was traveling by myself. The wineries were welcoming and and made us feel at home. The wines we tasted were amazing. The tour guide was funny and kind. Overall excellent experience. Thank you so much!
