If you choose not to enjoy the cruise you can take a walk around Fort Augustus and have a bite to eat in one of the many restaurants and cafes that are open or you may decide to walk to the shoreline of Loch Ness for a photo opportunity.
Don’t forget to check out the Caledonian Canal which was a purpose built canal that allowed vessels to move between the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea
Upon departure from Fort Augustus and Loch Ness, head through the Great Glen taking in its unbelievable scenery and then pass under the shadow of the highest mountain in Britain, Ben Nevis. Continuing back past Loch Linnhe move through the haunting backdrop of Glen Coe, the site of the famous massacre of the MacDonald clan in 1692. Continuing on your way back to Edinburgh via the vast and impressive landscape of the Black Mount and Rannoch Moor and move your way through Rob Roy country, home to the clans of MacGregor and Campbell. Heading on the home stretch to Edinburgh pass through Stirling where you will encounter impressive views of the awesome Stirling Castle (weather permitting), perched high up on a piece of volcanic rock and the equally impressive National Wallace Monument (weather permitting) just to its left.
