Full description
Join a local guide and discover some of the stunning filming locations from the hit TV series "Outlander". Admire the views of Doune Castle, Blackness Castle, Midhope Castle, and the quaint villages of Culross and Falkand on a tour departing from Edinburgh. Set out from Edinburgh early in the morning for a journey to some of the most famous locations from the series. Relive some of your favorite moments from the show as you gain insight into the history of each location from your local guide. Leave the capital behind and first drive to the instantly recognizable Midhope Castle. Enter the grounds and discover the real-life Lallybroch and the home of Jamie Fraser. Next, travel to Doune Castle, or Castle Leoch, which was also featured as Winterfell in "Game of Thrones" and as the castle in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". You have the option of entering the castle, or you can simply admire it from the outside. Next, travel to the ancient Kingdom of Fife, an area of great historical importance. Make a stop in Culross, where Claire was accused of witchcraft in the village of Cranesmuir. Admire one of the most complete examples of a typical 17th and 18th-century burgh that remains in Scotland today. For your penultimate stop, head to the charming village of Falkland, which was used as the filming location for 1940s Inverness. Admire some of the 28 listed buildings, which indicates their national historic and architectural significance. Finally, visit Blackness Castle which is perched on a strategic point overlooking Blackness Bay. Then, hop back on the bus and relax on the return journey to Edinburgh.

A must-do activity for all Outlander fans! The tour is very well organized: pick-up at Edinburgh bus station, comfortable bus for a small group, approximately forty minutes drive between each visit and sufficient visiting time for each location. I recommend taking entrance tickets for the castles of Doune / "Leoch" (audio guide with the voice of Sam Heughan - among others) but especially that of Blakness which is very beautiful. For Culross, the "Biscuit Cafe" was a really nice place for a lunch break. Only downside for me: I would have liked the guide - very good otherwise - to accompany us to each site to make comments (there, he gave them on the bus and left us free time afterwards to visit alone).

We had an amazing day! Mark, our guide and driver, kept us entertained the whole time with lots of interesting information about Scotland and the TV series, was funny and very attentive. The trip was pleasant, the group was not so big, comfortable transportation. About the spots, no words to describe. I was with my sister, and as big outlander fans, it was just incredible to see and visit all the locations. We had enough time in each stop to enjoy it all. Highly recommended!

The tour is great for Outlander fans. Unfortunately it was not possible to drive to Doune Castle due to the heavy rain the previous day. But we went to Linlithgow Palace (Wentworth Prison). Cara Our guide was very nice, gave us good recommendations and also played Scottish music during the trip. She tried very hard to find a solution when she was told we couldn't go to Doune Castle. She made up for the disappointment with the idea of going to Linlithgow Palace.
