What to Expect
Departing early from Dubrovnik, enjoy the picturesque journey along the Adriatic coast before arriving in Sarajevo. With a rich heritage dating right back to the Neolithic, the Bosnian capital's colorful cityscape blossomed into being under Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian imperialism, forming the astonishing hub of cultural diversity that remains today.
Passing through the historic municipalities of Pocitelj, Mostar, Jablanica, and Konjic en route, the tour of Sarajevo will commence with a guided walk around the vibrant old town. Among the landmarks covered will be the Baščaršija bazaar, the Orthodox church, cathedral, and old mosque. Lunch will follow, with some free time given to stroll around at your leisure.
The tour continues through the Tunnel of Hope, constructed to allow supplies into the besieged city during the Bosnian War. In contrast, the next stop will be Vrelo Bosne – the River Bosna's breathtaking natural spring. The park has several islets teeming with creeks and waterfalls to explore. The footpaths and wooden bridges connect traditional Austro-Hungarian houses that offer a unique insight into the luxuries enjoyed by the period's upper-classes.
