Full description
Depart Dublin and journey north towards the village of Malahide to take a guided tour of Malahide Castle, built in 1185 by Richard Talbot, a knight who accompanied Henry II to Ireland in 1174.
Wander the castle grounds that span some 250 acres of original estate parkland, and keep a look out for the ghosts that are said to haunt the castle. See the private gardens of Lord Talbot, recently opened to the public and described by garden lovers as a small botanic haven. Then, pop into some of the local craft shops or relax with a coffee and some pastries.
Next, take a scenic coastal drive through picturesque Malahide and the fishing village of Howth on the peninsula of Howth Head. Wander around the pretty village before making your way to the summit for a spectacular photo opportunity overlooking Dublin Bay.
